History

The Cicero Dire Department was chartered on August 17th 1952. The proud history of this department dates back to when it was first organized in 1898 when buckets were purchased, so water could be drawn from the town well.   A horse drawn fire chemical wagon was purchased by the town in 1907 with a second one purchased in 1910.

The first motorized vehicle was a 1921 Model T Chemical truck. Our 1951 Studebaker still serves proudly today as a parade unit. Times have certainly changed and the Cicero Fire Department currently serves the community with a combination 1500 gpm Engine/Tanker with 1250 gallons of water, a 65 foot aerial 1500 gpm quint, a medium duty rescue, a medical quick response vehicle, an ambulance, a utility truck, a boat to service Morse Reservoir and two administrative staff vehicles.

Today The Cicero Fire Department is a combination department with 8 full-time paid and 20 volunteer members with additional part time staff and a support division.  In addition to providing all fire and emergency medical services to the Town of Cicero, we service all of White River Township for their emergency medical needs and provide assistance to surrounding agencies via mutual aid agreements.
